Asst. Prof. Dr. Warit Ruanglertboon
Assistant Professor in Clinical Pharmacy & Full-Time Academic Researcher in the Discipline of Pharmacology and the Research Center in Mathematics and Statistics With Applications, Faculty of Science, Prince of Songkla University. Investigating statistical learning, machine learning risk prediction, pharmacogenomics, and responsible AI integration to personalise and optimise patient pharmacotherapy.
Dr. Warit Ruanglertboon is a registered pharmacist, clinical pharmacologist, and data analyst collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams of statisticians, clinicians, and biomedical scientists. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacology from Flinders University of South Australia as a member of the Precision Medicine Group before returning to the Discipline of Pharmacology (Division of Health and Applied Sciences) and the Research Center in Mathematics and Statistics With Applications, Faculty of Science, Prince of Songkla University. His research harnesses both classical statistical modeling and machine learning in R to predict inter-individual variability in drug exposure, survival outcomes, and severe cutaneous adverse drug reactions, alongside evaluating Large Language Models (LLMs) in drug information services, pharmacy education, and non-English clinical environments.
To advance precision medicine and clinical pharmacology in Thailand and internationally by integrating real-world clinical big data, pharmacogenomic biomarkers, and trustworthy artificial intelligence into patient-centered care.
To develop and validate clinical prediction models, mechanistic pharmacokinetic simulations, and digital decision-support tools that optimise drug dosing and prevent adverse drug reactions, while training the next generation of health scientists.
To translate statistical learning, pharmacogenomic screening (such as HLA and CYP variants), and validated AI assistants into pragmatic clinical pharmacy workflows that directly improve patient safety and treatment outcomes.
Integrating quantitative clinical pharmacology, biomarker research, and practical applications of artificial intelligence in pharmacy.
Integrating statistical learning, machine learning, survival analysis, and longitudinal modelling to address challenges in clinical pharmacology and precision medicine. Applications include oncology pharmacotherapy, clinical risk prediction, and real-world hospital EMR and drug-utilisation studies.
Investigating drug-metabolism biomarkers, including extracellular vesicle-derived CYP3A4 and UGT markers, and pharmacogenomic variants associated with variability in drug response and adverse reactions, including HLA-B*15:21, HLA-B*40:06, and CYP2C9 in anticonvulsant-associated cutaneous adverse drug reactions.
Evaluating large language models and emerging generative AI tools for drug information services, drug–drug and herb–drug interaction assessment, virtual patient counselling in pharmacy education, and the reliability of cancer-related health information.
Guiding principles for research in precision pharmacology, data science, and patient-centred care.
Tailoring drug selection and dosage to individual genetic, physiological, and clinical profiles.
Leveraging decade-long hospital EMR datasets and phase III clinical trial data for robust inference.
Assessing and deploying machine learning and generative AI responsibly in clinical and educational settings.
Collaborating across clinical pharmacists, physicians, biostatisticians, and international consortia.
